Adventureland (R) (2009)

If you are still chuckling about the bawdy antics in Superbad,
Prepare yourself for another frontal assault on your funny bone. Writer/ director Greg Mottola returns and strikes another brutally funny note in the opus of youthful-angst.
A young cast including, Jesse Eisenberg, Kristen Stewart, Ryan Reynolds, Bill Hader and Martin Starr provide a fresh look at what in means to be young, needing money, working at ridiculously inane jobs, looking for love (or, casual sex) and getting shot-down at every turn.
Set at a tacky, local amusement park in the summer of 1987, Adventureland bulks up its nostalgic appeal by throwing in some of the best music the Eighties had to offer, like David Bowie, The Cure, Crowded House, INXS and Lou Reed.
Packed with bonus features, both formats offer plenty of goodies to enjoy long after the feature. As is the current trend, the Blu-ray version includes more extras than the DVD edition. Do you think they are trying to tell (sell) us something?
If you need a peek, James Brennan (Eisenberg) returns home from college expecting the gift of a European vacation from his patents. Instead, he gets some bad news. The sagging economy has taken its toll on mom and dad’s bank account, the result being that his travel plans are cancelled. Rather than trekking off to the Continent, James will be working at the worst place imaginable, the local (cheesy) amusement park, Adventureland.  Buy it!
