Coffee Break with the Barista
September 2009
John
Lennon said, “Life is what happens while you’re busy making plans.” It
seems to me that so many of us haven’t really mastered the art of
living. Day in and day out I hear words from people around me such as,
“I’m gettin’ by,” or “I’m hanging in there,” or even “When will this
week end?” As people complain about what they feel isn’t right, they’re
missing out on life. Life is happening now! But what has happened to us
that we live only to work, and we work only to pay our bills?
As
so many of us approach retirement, it’s a good time to begin thinking
about how we’ve been living and what each of us can do to create a more
productive and joyful life for ourselves. Susan Bell has written an
article (page 6) to get us all thinking about what we can do to create
a happier and more fulfilling life, now and in our retirement.
