Your Morning Java
Rather than starting your morning with the television on, listening to more bad news, then rushing to get to work on time, rise just 30 minutes earlier than usual and do something that feeds your soul—write poetry, listen to an inspirational CD, create a craft item as a gift, or bake cookies to take to the office. And remember to eat a healthy breakfast. How you choose to spend your morning will set the tone for the rest of the day.

Recipe for a Joyful Day

Ingredients
Cup of coffee or tea
Comfortable chair
Current issue of Java Journal
Gratitude journal
Oatmeal with fruit and a drizzle of honey

Directions
Prepare your coffee or tea in your favorite mug. Sit, relax, read Java Journal, then spend 10 minutes writing in your gratitude journal. Finish with a hot bowl of oatmeal.

Prepare to arrive at work 15 minutes early—it may surprise you to know that arriving just 15 minutes early can significantly reduce your stress level and set up your day for success!

Your Evening Java
If you find yourself getting to bed too late, night after night, pay attention to what's preventing you from going to bed. If it's your computer, turn it off. If it's the television, limit yourself to one hour at night. Sometimes, having a wonderful evening is as simple as changing gears from a working mode to a relaxing mode. Here's a recipe to help you enjoy your evenings.

Recipe for a Peaceful Evening

Ingredients
Decaf coffee or tea
Soothing music
Warm bath
No-starch dinner
Meditation
Inspirational reading

Directions
As soon as you arrive home in the evening, turn off your cell phone, put on some comfortable clothing, listen to soothing music (perhaps native American music), make yourself a cup of decaf, then take a warm bath.
If you're concerned that the kids are hungry and need your attention, set out a plate of raw vegetables and dip—they'll survive while you soak in a warm tub for a few minutes. In fact, giving yourself a little attention while you and the kids listen to soothing music will set the tone for a happy evening together.

at Stone Hill Winery

Among the rolling hills overlooking the Missouri River, in a countryside reminiscent of Germany’s Rhine Valley, is the little town of Hermann. Located prominently on one of these hills, with a commanding view of the village, is the acclaimed Stone Hill Winery. Established in 1847, it grew to be the second largest winery in the United States, winning gold medals in eight World’s Fairs. [read more]
