Have you’ve ever set out to find your next great meal and were delighted to find a lot more?  It doesn’t happen too often, but that’s a common experience when you’re a new diner at Hwy 61 Roadhouse and Kitchen, where you’ll find great food and a lot more—music that is. And not just music—the best Blues in town. Every Tuesday, Friday and Saturday, some of the best talent in St. Louis hit the stage at Roadhouse. Pare down-home Cajun cooking with the Blues and you’ve got a dining experience to remember.

While Cajun offerings can be found throughout their menu, plain old good cooking prevails. Like most girls, one of my favorite starters is  salad! When I’m there, I usually order the Voodoo Salad—fresh greens and diced tomatoes tossed in Cajun herb dressing then topped with Gorgonzola cheese, Applewood-smoked bacon, mozzarella cheese and fried chicken breast or shrimp pieces tossed in VooDoo sauce. It’s fantastic!

If you have a thing for ribs, you won’t be disappointed. Their spare ribs are slowly smoked then glazed with their homemade barbecue sauce. It’s a real hit!

From starters such as wings, hot crab dip, fried tamales, stuffed mushrooms and chicken and sausage gumbo to platters of barbecue shrimp, smothered catfish, shrimp and crawfish étouffé, steaks and chicken to a wide variety of sandwiches, the choices are outstanding. And for an encore—Southern favorites such as fried Apple Pie and banana bread pudding, plus a St. Louis classic, gooey butter cake.

For a casual, unpretentious gathering of friends or family, Hwy 61 Roadhouse is fast becoming a St. Louis favorite.
