Miracle at St. Anna

Director Spike Lee is at the top of his game with the dramatization of this historically significant war tale. Four members of the all black, 92nd Infantry Division known as the Buffalo Soldiers are trapped behind enemy lines near Tuscany, Italy. After a humanitarian gesture separates them from their unit, they stumble into a rural village where they view the war from a different perspective.
Based on a popular novel by James McBride, the story is rich in inspiration, although packed with graphic battle scenes. The ideals of courage, brother-hood and the goodness within men all get their due. Fine performances from Derek Luke, Michael Ealy and Laz Alonzo make this film a standout on the New Release shelf.
