Repo Men (R) (2010)
Armed with a clever plot and a trick bag full of visual effects, director Miguel Sapochnik whisks us into the near-future into the next level of life extension technology. Rather than waiting for donor organs, patients may now purchase newly manufactured body parts from a giant conglomerate known as The Union. The results are astounding, with a few new gadgets, The Union can literally build a whole new You. What can possibly go wrong?
Along with the new body parts comes a huge price tag with steep payments. Under the shadow of impending death, the recipients gladly sign the pricy contracts, but soon after they are up and running, many default on their debts. Unlike jokes about not paying your doctor bills when people quip, “What are they going to do, make me sick again?” these guys play hardball. No payment within a certain length of time means your new organs are repossessed by guys like Remy (Jude Law) and Jake (Forest Whitaker), and they don’t play around.
The tables are suddenly turned when the hunter becomes the hunted. Rating: 3
